Movement, dance and theatre workshops for blind and visually-impaired youth finalised with creating a professional theatre performance.
The project involves a series of theatre, movement, dance and music workshops for blind and visually-impaired young people, completed with the professional performance, created by the workshop participants, their instructors, teachers, young dancers and artists from Lodz. The workshops will take place from July to November 2014. The main aim of the project is to stimulate blind and visually-impaired young people, their parents and guardians in creative work.
Project 'Art-impulses' consists of two work modules: artistic and organizational.
The artistic module is based on active participation in a series of workshops, ended with a proffesional theatre performance. The main aim of the workshops is to develop body awareness of the participants, to improve their orientation in space, and to teach them techniques of free and smooth motion, to give them selfconfidence and trust by working with others and working in the group. The workshop activities include methods of intensive development of the whole body and voice, and creative improvisation techniques.
The organizational module is based on preparing the performance (first work-in-progress show in August, during the International Theatre Festival RETROPERSPEKTYWY 2014, second - premiere performance in October 2014.) The project participants will work on creating the script, costumes, and stage design for the performance. They will be also engaged in the work in CHOREA Theatre festival office, in newly opened cultural center - Art_Incubator in Art Factory in Lodz.
Through workshops based on working with the body, voice and partner, young people overcame their barriers and limitations, and they are breaking the stereotypes associated with functioning of the blind and visually impaired people in the society.
"Art-Impulses" project is financed from the programe "Młodzi niepełnosprawni - sprawni z PZU".
